If you have upgraded to macOS Ventura 13.3, your MsgFiler mail plugins will have been disabled. Upgrade to the latest versions of the plugins to regain functionality with MsgFiler. Download the plugin appropriate to your version of MsgFiler:
- MsgFiler Engine: Version 1.7.1 works with macOS 13.3. This is the plugin you should install if you are purchased MsgFiler 3 from the Mac App Store.
- MsgFiler Classic: Version 2.7.1 works with macOS 13.3. This is the standalone plugin that offers a subset of features from MsgFiler 3 from the Mac App Store.
If you are running a previous version of macOS, such as Big Sur, Catalina or Mojave, you do not need to do anything.
Thank you so much for keeping this plugin up to date. It is essential and I use it every day.
Also really appreciate the timely updates — wondering if there was some way to automate the installation of the engine? Would make life so much simpler relative to the manual steps required so frequently. Thanks!
The only thing that I could do is an installer at this point for the plugin, but seeing that Apple has deprecated Mail plugins, I don’t see a reason to do it right now. WWDC is just around the corner and it remains to be seen if macOS 14 will be the one where they finally put the axe to Mail plugins.
You’ll see need to go to Mail Preferences > General > Manage Plug-ins, check the checkbox, and click Apply and Restart Mail. No way to script that.
But, you do not have to go through the Terminal commands. Just move the plugin folder into your ~/Library/Mail/Bundles folder and go through the steps above in Mail.
Well if they don’t axe it in 14, an installer would be great! I know it is just a few steps but it is somewhat tedious. Most other software auto-updates these days.. Setting the pref is not too hard.
You are always so patient when I continue to ask the same question over and over again with each update. So here I go again. 🙂
I just opened MsgFilter and it says it’s version 3.1.4. I am running Ventura 13.2.1.
I’m pretty sure I purchased directly instead of via the Apple Store.
Which should I download?
Since you’re running MsgFiler 3 from the App Store, you need to install MsgFiler Engine: https://msgfiler.com/support/engine. Latest version is 1.7.1.
Thanks. All installed now.
